Our organization team. ORGANIZATION TEAM #witnessthehistory Letter from the Director General Honorable Delegates and Valued Participants, My name is Beyza Nur, as the Director General of IUMUN’25, I am deeply honored to be a part of something this big and exciting. My dedicated organization team and I welcome you and are thrilled to bring yet another edition of our prestigious conference, Istanbul University Model United Nations, IUMUN’25, to life on July 16-19. My journey with IUMUN has been nothing short of transformative. Being a member for four years, I have had the privilege of serving as a Public Relations Member, later leading our Public Relations Team and now with the most sincere intentions, stepping into the role of Director General. I have learned so much with every role I have taken on, and my experiences within our club have shaped me into who I am today. IUMUN has never been just a conference for me, it has given me so much over the years: my journey is filled with lifelong friendships, unbreakable bonds, touching moments and great experiences. I have found a place where I can thrive. I could not be more proud and thankful for this opportunity to serve you and give you the same experiences as well. To me, organization is not just the logistics of it, it is about being a team player, being there at all times and truly listening. Of course there are always challenges along the way, but I believe the sense of community and passion that will fuel IUMUN’25 will make every effort worth it. Being in the MUN community and pouring my heart into it for a long time, my hope is that every one of our delegates, every participant, and every member of my team feels the same sense of belonging and excitement that I have felt over the years. I can not wait to welcome you to IUMUN’25 and share this remarkable experience. Let us show you how it’s done. As climate change increases the frequency and intensity of natural disasters, the need for resilient and sustainable energy solutions has never been more critical. The first agenda item, Promoting Renewable Energy Innovations through Governmental Policies to Mitigate Disaster Risks, examines how governments can integrate renewable energy into disaster prevention strategies, reducing reliance on vulnerable infrastructures. The second agenda item, Using Renewable Energy Innovations for Post-Disaster Reconstruction, focuses on how sustainable energy can support faster, more resilient recovery efforts since traditional energy infrastructures often fail under extreme conditions. By addressing these issues, this committee aims to create innovative policies that enhance disaster preparedness and post-crisis stability worldwide with the usage of renewable resources. • FAQ | IUMUN'25

FAQ #witnessthehistory What is MUN? Model United Nations, also known as model UN or MUN, is an educational simulation in which students learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. At a MUN conference, students work as the representative of a country, organization, or person, and must solve a problem with other delegates from around the world. Delegates conduct research before conferences: they must formulate position papers, and create policy proposals that they will debate with other delegates in their committee. At the end of a conference, delegates will vote on written policies (called draft resolutions), with the goal of passing them with a majority vote. The best-performing delegates in each committee, as well as delegations, are sometimes recognized with awards. How do I apply? Just click apply on our home page. What makes IUMUN different from all the other conferences? IUMUN shines with the quality it brings to the table. Our club embraces our very own IUMUN school of though to conference making where every delegate is tended to individually. While still having a lot of fun activities, our emphasis and focus is on the academic benefit we provide you. All the while being much more affordable than other conferences. Who can I approach if I have a problem or need assistance during the conference? Our Public Relations team’s primary goal is to assist you with anything and listen to your problems! You can seek out a PR team member (they are very easy to spot) and if they cannot help you themselves, they will guide you to someone who can. Will participants be given certificates at the end of the conference? Yes! All delegates who did not miss two whole sessions get their participation certificate. Will food be provided to participants during the conference? Four days of food is included in the application fee. What resources and materials should a delegate bring to the conference to stay organised and informed? All the materials you will need during the conference are included in the application fee and will be provided to you during the registration. You can also read the study guides which will be shared before the conference and bring your research documents if you like. Can we change our countries/committees if we don't like them? Our academic team decides your allocations after a careful evaluation process considering your experiences, your awards and your motivation letter, which means changing it is sadly not possible. What is your procedure? We follow Harvard procedure.

The Plebeian-Patrician struggle of ancient Rome was a watershed in the city's political history. The Patrician aristocracy had held its hold on power for centuries, dominating the Senate, magistracies, and religious offices, while the commoners of Rome, the Plebeians, were confined to minimal influence despite their role in the economy and the Republic's army. JCC Under-Secretary-General Dağhan AKTAŞ Academic Assistant Mina IŞIK Academic Assistant Seyederfan ALBORZİ Agenda Item Agenda Item: Pleabians vs Patricians Study Guide Rules of Procedure About the Committee The Plebeian-Patrician struggle of ancient Rome was a watershed in the city's political history. The Patrician aristocracy had held its hold on power for centuries, dominating the Senate, magistracies, and religious offices, while the commoners of Rome, the Plebeians, were confined to minimal influence despite their role in the economy and the Republic's army. Increasing inequality resulted in increasing tensions and reached a breaking point in a seminal moment in 493 BCE: the first Secession of the Plebs. Burdened by debt, oppression, and lack of political voice, the Plebeians took a radical step and withdrew from Rome and refused to serve in its army. The act forced the Patricians into agreeing to the creation of the Tribune of the Plebs, an office that was established to protect Plebeian rights and veto unfair legislation. Though this was a triumph, the fight for equality was far from being won since the coexistence of these two classes continued to be unstable. We are here in this committee at the juncture of this strife. Will the Plebeians at last have political voice, or will the Patricians retain their grip on power? Will Rome accept change, or will conflict herald the fall of the Republic? The future is in the balance, and what is resolved here will determine the fate of Rome itself! BRICS+ Under-Secretary-General Eren EROĞULLARI Under-Secretary-General Enes PEHLİVAN Agenda Item Agenda Item: Possible Economic Collaboration of BRICS Member States For Reducing the Global Domination of U.S. Dollar Rules of Procedure (General) Study Guide Rules of Procedure (BRICS+) About the Committee The U.S. dollar has been the backbone of the global financial system for decades, granting the United States tremendous economic influence. As rising powers, BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—have both the chance and the obligation to turn this around by promoting financial autonomy and diminishing dollar dependence. To this purpose, the BRICS members need to increase local currency settlements of trade, enhance the New Development Bank (NDB) as a secondary source of finance, and establish the Contingent Reserve Arrangement (CRA) for financial stability. Further, digital payment systems such as BRIPS Pay and the consideration of a common reserve currency present attractive prospects for greater economic integration and resilience. However, there are challenges—economic imbalances, regulatory roadblocks, and geopolitical rivalries require strategic coordination and firm diplomatic efforts. This committee is at a crossroads: Will BRICS countries make decisive moves towards a multipolar financial architecture, or will they continue to be stuck in dollar hegemony? The decision is in our hands, and the time to do it is now!
